The Utica Borough received a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant for $34,600, $8,500 from the County Commissioners and $1,000 from the Walmart Foundation to rehab the Mary Clark Playground to bring it into compliance with a 2010 Venango County Playground Safety Audit and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Borough's contribution to the project is "sweat equity." Volunteers will excavate the play areas to prepare them for ADA approved engineer wood chips. They will install the new swing sets, paint the pavilion, etc. The basketball court will be resealed and shot lines painted. New benches and a charcoal grill will be installed. The center section will be set up for corn hole. The most notable change will be cement walkways that will allow a person in a wheelchair to navigate the park. Work will begin in early August.
